LALSA, Fordham University School of Law

Earlier this spring, Fordham's LALSA Chapter volunteered its time at Part of the Solution (http://potsbronx.org), an organization that provides multiple services for the community. LALSA students worked in the soup kitchen and restaurant, serving clients, washing pots and pans, and translating when needed. Volunteering at POTS was a deeply rewarding experience and great start to the semester.

In the fall semester, Fordham LALSA's community outreach initiatives centered around fundraising for elementary schools with students in need and social services organizations such as the Urban Women's Safe Haven. To encourage wider student involvement, the spring semester's community outreach agenda will focus on projects that foster teamwork and cooperation between students. Varying the type of community service projects between the two semesters has helped keep our involvement fresh and avoid cupcake baking burnout. For our next community outreach project we will volunteer at our local Boys and Girls Club in Fort Washington. We invite other law school LALSA chapters to join us!
